NCERT must become more innovative, inclusive, research-driven: Education Minister Pralhad Joshi

New Delhi, Sep 2 (INB) National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) should become more innovative, inclusive, research-driven and future-ready said the Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi while highlighting its role in transforming school education.
Speaking at NCERT’s 66th Foundation Day celebrations at its headquarters in New Delhi, Joshi said the organisation has played a vital role in the Indian education system for over six decades through textbooks, learning materials and curriculum frameworks.
He highlighted NCERT’s work under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, including the National Curriculum Frameworks for the Foundational Stage and School Education, and development of new textbooks for Grades 1 to 9, it stated.
The minister also stressed the need to strengthen NCERT’s research ecosystem and use of technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence, while equipping students with digital literacy, critical thinking, problem-solving and innovation skills, it added. Joshi inaugurated a Robotics Learning Centre, Translation Lab and upgraded Television Studio, besides a new Gate No. 2 complex and theme park. A coffee table book, Flora and Fauna at NCERT, was also released.
