CEED 2027 applications open for M.Des, PhD programmes at IITs

Mumbai, Oct 5 (INB) Applications for CEED 2027 have opened for admission to M.Des and PhD programmes at several IITs, design schools and result-sharing institutes, IIT Bombay said on Monday.
Students with an interest in design and an aptitude for creativity, visualisation and problem-solving are encouraged to apply, according to an IIT Bombay LinkedIn post. CEED is conducted by IIT Bombay under the guidance of the UCEED-CEED Implementation Committee (UCIC) to assess candidates’ aptitude in visual perception, drawing, logical reasoning, creativity, communication and problem-solving.
The examination is a qualifying test for M.Des programmes at IISc Bengaluru, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Jodhpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee, IIITDM Jabalpur and IIITDM Kancheepuram, as well as PhD programmes at several IITs and design schools. The regular-fee registration window will remain open from October 1 to October 31, 2026, while applications can be submitted with a late fee from November 1 to November 6, 2026, until 5 pm.
CEED 2027 will be conducted on January 17, 2027, from 9 am to noon, and will comprise two parts — Part-A and Part-B. Candidates will be required to attempt questions from both sections, with Part-A scheduled from 9 am to 10 am, followed by Part-B from 10 am to noon, it added. The Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) is conducted for admission to postgraduate and doctoral programmes in design at participating IITs, design schools and other institutes that share CEED results.
IIT Bombay has advised interested candidates to visit the CEED 2027 website www.ceed.iitb.ac.in/2027/ and registration portal for detailed information regarding the examination and admission process, the institute said. The CEED 2027 score will be valid for one year from the date of declaration of the result. However, qualifying in CEED and obtaining a score does not by itself guarantee admission, as participating institutes may conduct additional tests or interviews and will separately verify candidates’ eligibility and documents.
