Basti’s St Joseph’s School become first private school to open up for transgenders
Lucknow, Feb 10 (IEB) St Joseph’s School was facilitated by Uttar Pradesh governor Anandiben Patel for opening up jobs and education for transgenders.
Indira Charitable Society, CEO, Ajay Kumar Pandey, a member of a government committee for transgender welfare, said that ST Joseph’s School is the first private school to open up for employing and educating transgenders.
“We have been facilitated for the appointment of two transgenders as gardeners in our school and for their free education,” St Joseph’s School Principal, Angelina Philip told IEB.
UP Vice President for Cow Service Commission, Mahesh Shukla was also present at the occasion.
In August, the UP governor inaugurated a digital board at the Kinnar Pathshala (transgender school) in Basti.
Raj Bhavan had provided financial assistance of Rs 2.1 lakh for the board.
