UGC asks higher education institutions to promote participation in Kalantar Art 2026 festival

New Delhi, June 26 (INB) The University Grants Commission has urged higher education institutions across the country to disseminate information about Kalantar Art 2026, an annual national-level art festival being organised by the Kalantar Art Foundation, and encourage students to participate in its various competitions.
According to a communication shared with institutions, the festival aims to promote creativity, artistic expression, skill development and holistic learning among students through a range of artistic and cultural activities.
The event will feature national-level competitions in disciplines including painting, sculpture making (clay modelling), creative writing, singing, dance and acting.
Participants from different age groups will be able to compete in categories tailored to their respective age brackets.
Online submission of entries for the first round of the competition will open on July 1, 2026, and continue until August 15, 2026 through the Kalantar Art Foundation’s website.
The painting competition will include themes such as Trip to Jungle, My Family, I Care, Values Given by My Parents and Earth Without Water for different age groups, while sculpture-making participants will create works based on themes including From Ancient India and Love That Cares. Creative writing entries in Hindi and English, along with singing, dance and acting performances, will also be judged under designated categories.
In a message to participants, Kalantar Art Foundation Chairman Vishal Srivastava described art as a powerful medium for social transformation and personal development. He encouraged students to use original ideas and creative expression while preparing their entries.
The UGC has requested universities and colleges to widely circulate the festival details among students and motivate them to take part in the nationwide event.
