New Delhi, Oct 2 (INB) Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi urged students to contribute at least 30 minutes to cleanliness activities, saying their participation was crucial to building a clean, green and healthy India, it said on Thursday.
Joshi made the remarks while leading a Shramdaan and cleanliness drive at Gargi College, University of Delhi, under the nationwide ‘Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath’ initiative, according to an official statement issued by Education Ministry.
The minister also planted a sapling on the college premises under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign and interacted with students on the importance of cleanliness and environmental consciousness.
Joshi said cleanliness was closely linked to public health and well-being and stressed the need for collective participation to make Swachhata a sustained habit. He urged students to practise cleanliness not only in educational institutions but also at home and in public spaces, saying individual efforts could inspire collective action and turn Swachhata into a people’s movement.
The minister also highlighted the importance of physical fitness and outdoor activities among young people, encouraging students to participate in sports and maintain a healthy balance with screen-based activities. Joshi urged students to contribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047, saying young people were key to translating the vision into action through responsible citizenship and active participation.
