Cisco, IIT Delhi launch AI, cybersecurity hub to boost research and digital talent

New Delhi, Aug 5 (INB) Cisco and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi have launched a Technology Hub on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cybersecurity to strengthen research, skill development and innovation in the country’s digital ecosystem, the institute said. The three-year collaboration aims to establish the hub as a centre for AI and cybersecurity research, innovation and talent development in the Indo-Pacific region by combining Cisco’s technology expertise with IIT Delhi’s academic capabilities. According to a statement issued on Tuesday on IIT Delhi website, the initiative will focus on advancing research in AI and cybersecurity, offering grants and fellowships for PhD and MTech students, supporting joint research with Cisco’s global teams, and encouraging publication of white papers on technology policy and regulatory issues. The hub will also introduce continuing education programmes in collaboration with Cisco Networking Academy (NetAcad), specialised training for industry professionals, government departments and public sector undertakings, and short-term courses on emerging technologies and cybersecurity. According to the announcement, the collaboration will organise security workshops, research forums and an annual Security and Trust Summit to promote dialogue among academia, industry and government on emerging digital technologies and cybersecurity challenges. IIT Delhi Dean (Corporate Relations) Prof. Jayant Jain said the collaboration would strengthen knowledge exchange with industry and help develop future-ready talent. Dean (Research and Development) Prof Ashwini K Agrawal said the initiative would enhance the institute’s research capabilities in AI and cybersecurity. Cisco India and South Asia President Daisy Chittilapilly said collaboration among academia, industry and government is critical for advancing AI research, developing secure digital solutions and creating a skilled workforce for India’s digital future. The Technology Hub is being established under Cisco’s Country Digital Acceleration programme, which supports governments, industry and academia in building digital infrastructure, strengthening cybersecurity and promoting digital skills.
