NMACC, Reliance Foundation launch Emotions Lab to boost emotional learning among children

Mumbai, June 29 (INB) The Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC), Reliance Foundation and Dadu, Children’s Museum of Qatar, have launched Emotions Lab, an interactive exhibition aimed at promoting emotional literacy and social-emotional learning among children. The exhibition, unveiled as part of NMACC’s annual Bachpan children’s festival, uses behavioural science, sensory installations and interactive activities to help children recognise, understand and regulate their emotions. A special preview will be organised on July 1 for more than 100 children from under-resourced communities under Reliance Foundation’s Education and Sports for All (ESA) initiative. The exhibition will open to the public from July 2 and continue until August 2. According to the organisers, the exhibition is based on the Mood Meter, a tool developed by the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence under its RULER framework, which helps children develop skills to recognise, understand, label, express and regulate emotions. The exhibition features interactive technology, storytelling sessions, collaborative games, sensory experiences and guided activities designed to improve emotional awareness, resilience and decision-making among young learners. Speaking on the occasion, Isha Ambani, Director, Reliance Industries, said emotional literacy is an essential life skill that children should develop both inside and outside the classroom. She said the initiative reflects the organisation’s commitment to making meaningful educational experiences accessible to children from diverse backgrounds. The organisers said Emotions Lab has been co-developed with early childhood education experts and adapted for the Indian context under the Museum in Residence initiative, following the successful Light Atelier exhibition launched in 2025. After its Mumbai debut, the exhibition will be adapted for schools and anganwadis across India, particularly to benefit children from underserved communities, the organisers said
