CBSE declares Class 12 supplementary exam results; compartment pass percentage rises to 53.08%

New Delhi, Aug 12 (INB) The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday declared the results of the Class 12 supplementary examination 2026, with 53.08 per cent of students in the compartment category clearing the exam, according to an official release. The results are available through the DigiLocker Results Portal, the CBSE said. The supplementary examination was conducted for students who could not secure qualifying marks in one of the five mandatory subjects, as well as candidates with six subjects seeking to qualify in a main subject and students who had already passed but appeared for improvement in one subject, the board said. A total of 2,91,576 candidates registered for the Class 12 supplementary examination this year, while 2,75,287 candidates appeared, according to CBSE data. Of these, 1,64,231 students appeared under the compartment category, while 1,11,056 candidates appeared for improvement. The pass percentage among compartment candidates stood at 53.08 per cent, marking a significant improvement over the 38.36 per cent recorded in 2025, the board said. The supplementary examination provides an opportunity to students who were unable to meet the qualifying criteria in the main examination to clear their compartment subject. It also allows eligible students to improve their performance or meet subject-specific requirements, according to the CBSE. Students can access their individual results through the DigiLocker results portal, the board said. The CBSE, an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Education, conducts board examinations for Classes X and XII and oversees academic and examination-related processes for its affiliated schools.
