Prayagraj, Sept 1 (INB) Allahabad University has announced the commencement of its PhD admission process for the 2026-27 academic session, with online registration scheduled to begin on September 2, according to an official statement. Eligible candidates can submit their applications through the university’s admission portal till September 25, 2026, the statement said on Monday. The admission process will be conducted in accordance with the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of PhD Degree) Regulations, 2022, as amended from time to time, along with provisions of the University of Allahabad PhD Ordinance, the university said. For the 2026-27 session, UGC/CSIR-NET examinations held in December 2025 and June 2026 will be valid for PhD admission. The university will also consider, wherever applicable, candidates qualifying through examinations including BET-DBT, DHR-BRET, NBHM Doctoral Scholarship Examination, Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme, GATE, JEST and ICAR, subject to eligibility conditions mentioned in the PhD Admission Brochure 2026. The university said reservation of seats will be applicable as per Government of India and UGC norms. The reservation includes 15 per cent for Scheduled Castes, 7.5 per cent for Scheduled Tribes, 27 per cent for Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer), 10 per cent for Economically Weaker Sections and 5 per cent horizontal reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, it added. Candidates seeking admission in more than one subject will have to submit a separate online application and pay the registration fee separately for each subject, it stated. Applicants have been advised to carefully read the PhD Admission Brochure 2026-27 and regularly check the university website for updates on the admission schedule, Research Aptitude Test, merit lists and other notifications.
