Lucknow, Aug 5 (INB) Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh on Wednesday said the Centre’s Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID initiative will ensure lifelong digital storage and verification of students’ academic records, making admissions and transfers between educational institutions smoother, according to an official statement. Speaking in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council during the Monsoon Session, Singh said the state government is facilitating the implementation of the APAAR ID scheme to digitally secure students’ educational records in line with the Centre’s initiative. He said each student will be assigned a unique 12-digit APAAR ID, which will securely store academic documents throughout their lifetime and enable instant digital verification by educational institutions. The minister clarified that APAAR IDs are being created only with the consent of parents. He said district education authorities, school teachers and parents are being encouraged to ensure maximum enrolment under the initiative, following directions issued by the Government of India. Singh described the scheme as a significant long-term reform aimed at improving student mobility, simplifying admissions and strengthening the digital education ecosystem. He also reiterated the Uttar Pradesh government’s commitment to improving school education and governance under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
