CBSE issues guidelines for Class 12 supplementary practical exams from July 29

New Delhi, Jul 23 (INB) CBSE has issued guidelines for conducting Class 12 supplementary practical examinations from July 29 to August 4, 2026, clarifying eligibility, exam procedures, marking rules and responsibilities of schools and regional offices. According to official notification. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) said the guidelines apply to students placed in the compartment category due to Repeat in Practical (RP) and Repeat in Theory and Practical Both (RB). Students in the RP category will appear only for the practical examination, while those in the RB category will have to take both the theory and practical examinations. According to the circular, practical examinations for regular students will be conducted in their respective schools, while private candidates will appear at the examination centres allotted for theory examinations. If practical facilities are unavailable at a particular centre, the concerned regional office will arrange the examination at a nearby school or examination centre. CBSE said regional offices will appoint external examiners for all Class 12 practical examinations, while schools will appoint internal examiners from among their own teachers. Schools have been instructed not to appoint external examiners on their own. The board directed schools to upload practical marks on the portal on the same day the examination is conducted. Once uploaded, the marks will be treated as final and no requests for changes will be entertained. Students have been advised to contact their schools or examination centres by July 27 with a copy of their result/marksheet and admit card, and to report at the designated venue as per the schedule communicated by the school or examination centre. Regional offices have been asked to ensure timely appointment of external examiners, smooth conduct of practical examinations, uploading of marks and receipt of practical answer books.
