Haryana Assembly passes bill to establish Masters’ Union University in Gurugram

Gurugram, Sep 3 (INB) The Haryana Assembly passed the Haryana Private Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2026, paving the way for establishment of Masters’ Union University in Gurugram, according to a statement issued by the institution.
The university will seek to expand Masters’ Union’s practitioner-led, “learn-by-building” model of education across management, technology and engineering, the statement said. Masters’ Union, which was founded in 2020, currently has more than 3,000 students and offers programmes in management, technology and engineering besides family business and executive learning, it said.
According to the institution, its model is centred on students gaining practical experience by working on real-world problems, building companies and developing products as part of their academic experience. The institution said the university status would allow it to extend this approach beyond business education and develop a multidisciplinary institution. “We are grateful to the Government of Haryana for the confidence it has placed in Masters’ Union. For us, this is a strong validation of a model we have pioneered over the last six years,” Masters’ Union founder Pratham Mittal said. “In the AI age, access to information is no longer the constraint. The real advantage will come from knowing how to frame problems, make decisions and build solutions,” Mittal said. The proposed university campus comprises about 5.14 acres of contiguous land in Gurugram, with an existing built-up area of around 1.07 lakh square feet, including approximately 96,600 square feet of instructional space, the statement said. The broader campus plans include accelerator and venture-building spaces, maker and analytics laboratories, residences, cultural and sporting facilities, and research and incubation infrastructure, it said. The institution said it has supported more than 80 student startups through its Venture Initiation Programme and other initiatives since its inception. Ten startups incubated under the programme have raised more than Rs 65 crore and recorded combined annual recurring revenue of Rs 320 crore in financial year 2024-25, according to the statement. The institution said its student ventures have attracted investments from IIFL Wealth, Avaana Capital, Chimera, 100X.VC, Lumikai and Big Bets, among others. It said Meta Fashion, a student-founded digital fashion startup focused on virtual fashion for gaming platforms, recently raised about USD 400,000 in a pre-seed round led by Lumikai. Masters’ Union also said its last placement cycle recorded an average annual compensation of Rs 34.07 lakh, with four offers exceeding Rs 1 crore and the highest package standing at Rs 1.28 crore. It recorded 30 international offers in markets including the US, Canada, the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with an average compensation of Rs 64 lakh per annum, according to the statement. The placement report was audited by B2K Analytics, formerly Brickwork Analytics. The institution said its faculty includes entrepreneurs, CXOs, investors, technologists and academics, with practitioners from companies and institutions in India and abroad.
