IIT Bombay, Tata Power sign research pact to advance clean energy, next-gen power technologies

Mumbai, Aug 18 (INB) IIT Bombay and Tata Power have signed a Master Research Agreement to promote research and innovation in clean energy and next-generation power technologies, according to a statement issued on Tuesday. The long-term strategic collaboration will bring together IIT Bombay’s research capabilities and Tata Power’s industry expertise to develop scalable and industry-ready solutions, the statement said. The partnership will focus oIn several emerging areas, including smart grids, power electronics, energy storage, electric mobility, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence for power systems, digital grid technologies, carbon capture and circular economy, it stated. The collaboration aims to accelerate the translation of cutting-edge academic research into technologies that can contribute to India’s clean energy transition, energy security and sustainable development. The agreement is also expected to strengthen industry-academia collaboration and facilitate the development of technologies with potential national impact, it added. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr Praveer Sinha, MD and CEO, Tata Power; Dr Ganesh Das, Chief – Innovation and Collaboration, Tata Power; Prof Shireesh Kedare, Director, IIT Bombay; and Prof Shrikrishna Kulkarni, Dean (Research and Development), IIT Bombay, besides other officials from the two organisations. The partnership marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration between the two institutions aimed at fostering innovation and addressing emerging challenges in India’s power and energy sector.
