IIT Delhi, AcSIR sign MoU to boost collaborative research, student exchange

New Delhi, Oct 1 (INB) IIT Delhi and the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) have signed an MoU to strengthen academic and research collaboration, including student exchanges and joint research projects, it said. The agreement will facilitate academic and research visits, allowing postgraduate students, research scholars and faculty members to spend time at the partner institution, IIT Delhi said in an official statement issued on Wednesday.
Under the arrangement, students from IIT Delhi and AcSIR will be able to undertake coursework and research at either institution without separate admission or payment of tuition fees at the host institution, it stated. Faculty members of IIT Delhi and researchers associated with AcSIR research institutes, including CSIR and ICMR laboratories, will also be able to collaborate on research in areas of mutual interest and undertake joint projects. “This collaboration is an opportunity to go beyond conventional student and faculty exchange and create a platform for sustained interaction among researchers,” IIT Delhi Director Prof Rangan Banerjee said.
Banerjee said the collaboration would bring together the strengths and facilities of IIT Delhi and CSIR research laboratories, enabling students and faculty to share ideas and work on research problems addressing societal challenges. AcSIR Director Prof Manoj K Dhar said the MoU would open research infrastructure and expertise of IIT and AcSIR faculty to a wider pool of students and researchers. The partnership would also provide students opportunities to work on research problems with strong industrial relevance, Dhar said, describing it as a model for deeper academic and research linkages between AcSIR and IITs.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by senior officials of both institutions, including directors, deans, associate deans and heads of departments. The institutions also made presentations on their academic and research activities.
