New Delhi, Oct 28 (INB) The NCERT has developed an introductory module on computational thinking and artificial intelligence for students of Classes 9 to 12, aiming to promote problem-solving skills and responsible use of emerging technologies, it said. The module, developed under the Ministry of Education and aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, is designed for students with no prior knowledge of artificial intelligence, according to a press release dated October 23. It introduces computational thinking as a systematic approach to solving problems and familiarises students with how AI works, its applications, possibilities and limitations. The module follows an experiential, activity-based learning approach involving discussions, practical exercises, experimentation and reflection. Activities can be conducted with or without digital devices to support participation across diverse school settings, it stated. It also emphasises the ethical and safe use of AI, covering data privacy, misinformation, fairness, digital safety and the need to critically verify AI-generated information. The module aims to help students become informed and responsible technology users while underscoring the importance of human judgement, creativity and ethical responsibility in learning, NCERT said.
