New Delhi, Aug 3 (INB) The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked higher education institutions (HEIs) to ensure that scholarship applications received through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) are verified within 15 days to facilitate timely processing and disbursal, according to an official notice. The UGC said the NSP will shortly be opened for submission and processing of applications under the National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies (NSPG) and the ISHAN UDAY Special Scholarship Scheme for the North Eastern Region. The schedule for online submission of applications will be notified separately, the notice stated. The commission directed all higher education institutions to ensure that their Institutional Nodal Officers (INOs) verify, approve, point out deficiencies or reject scholarship applications within 15 days of receiving them on the portal. Timely verification would provide students with sufficient time to rectify deficiencies or errors in their applications before the scholarship portal closes, the UGC said in its notice issued on Friday. The UGC also urged institutions to extend necessary support and guidance to eligible students during the application process and help resolve issues, if any, on the National Scholarship Portal.
