New Delhi, Jul 2 (INB) XLRI has appointed Fr Antony R Uvari, SJ, as Director of its Delhi-NCR campus with effect from July 1, succeeding Fr Nelson A D’Silva, SJ, who has been named President of the Delhi Jesuit Society. Fr Uvari, an alumnus of XLRI Jamshedpur, holds a postgraduate degree from the institute and a PhD from the University of Madras. He brings over 18 years of academic, administrative and leadership experience in management education. In his new role, Fr Uvari will focus on strengthening academic excellence, expanding industry collaborations, promoting interdisciplinary learning and enhancing student development initiatives at the Delhi-NCR campus. His academic career includes faculty and leadership positions at Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB), XLRI Jamshedpur and XIM University. He served as Vice Chancellor of XIM University from September 2019 to September 2025 after holding positions such as Associate Director, Registrar, Dean of Administration, Associate Dean and Chairperson of Admissions. Fr Uvari has also served as a visiting faculty member at Loyola University Maryland. His research focuses on leadership, human resource management and organisational effectiveness, and he has published papers in national and international journals besides conducting management development programmes for corporate and development-sector organisations. Accepting the appointment, Fr Uvari said he looked forward to building on XLRI’s legacy of academic excellence, ethical leadership and service while working with students, faculty, alumni and industry partners. Commenting on the appointment, XLRI Dean (Administration and Finance) Fr Alwyn Rodrigues, SJ, said Fr Uvari’s leadership experience and academic expertise would help the Delhi-NCR campus strengthen its role in developing responsible and purpose-driven business leaders. He also thanked outgoing Director Fr Nelson A D’Silva for his contribution to the campus. XLRI said the appointment marks a new phase for its Delhi-NCR campus, inaugurated in 2020, as it seeks to expand academic programmes, deepen industry engagement and further the institution’s mission of nurturing values-driven leaders.
