Kerala Jul 22 (INB) The Central University of Kerala has signed a MoU with the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), to establish a Centre of Excellence in Operational Oceanography and strengthen research, innovation and capacity building in ocean and earth system sciences. Under the collaboration, the two institutions will set up the CUK-INCOIS Centre of Excellence in Operational Oceanography at the university. The centre will focus on advanced research in operational oceanography, climate resilience, marine biogeochemistry, the blue economy, and the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in ocean data analysis and forecasting. The partnership will also facilitate joint research projects, faculty and student exchange programmes, internships, training initiatives and outreach activities aimed at enhancing academic collaboration and research opportunities. The university said the collaboration is expected to contribute to India’s efforts in sustainable ocean development, early warning systems and scientific innovation in marine and earth system sciences.
