New Delhi, Aug 20 (INB) The Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET), NCERT, will organise a five-day live interactive series from August 17 to 21 on promoting child health, nutrition and prevention of developmental delays, according to an official statement. The online series, titled “Promoting Healthy Lives: Preventing Deficiencies, Diseases, and Developmental Delays”, will focus on preventive healthcare, nutrition, developmental monitoring, mental health and inclusive educational practices, according to the statement issued by CIET-NCERT on Sunday. The sessions will be held from 12:45 pm to 1:45 pm during the five-day programme, the institute said. The initiative comes against the backdrop of findings from the National Family Health Survey (NFHS-6, 2023-24), which highlight progress as well as continuing challenges related to child health and nutrition, CIET said. The programme also draws upon the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016, which provides a framework for prevention, early identification, intervention, rehabilitation and inclusive education, it said. According to CIET, the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 recognises the close link between health and education and promotes holistic development by integrating health, nutrition, physical fitness, mental well-being and socio-emotional learning into the education system. The live series will bring together experts from health, nutrition, child development and education to promote collaboration in creating healthy, inclusive and supportive learning environments. Participants will learn about deficiencies, diseases and developmental delays and their impact on children’s health and learning. The sessions will also cover the role of nutrition, identification of early signs of developmental delays, prevention of communicable and non-communicable diseases and ways to strengthen safe and inclusive school environments. The programme is open to anyone interested in child health and does not require prior knowledge or professional experience, CIET said.
