Noida, Sept 15 (INB) The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Tuesday claimed government schools across Gautam Buddh Nagar were closed hours after its team inspected a primary school in Noida as part of its nationwide “School Thik Karo” campaign.
CJP Co-Convenor Saurav Das led the inspection team, which later attempted to visit three other government schools but was denied access, the organisation said in a statement.
According to a CJP statement, classes were underway and students were present at the school inspected by its team, while teachers cooperated during the visit. The organisation claimed school staff told its representatives that the Noida administration had contacted them “5 to 6 times” and instructed them not to allow CJP representatives to inspect the premises. The organisation also claimed that the Gautam Buddh Nagar administration ordered the closure of government schools across the district following the inspection. Questioning the alleged restrictions, Das asked why CJP and other citizens were being prevented from visiting government schools, particularly when Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had earlier invited citizens to inspect such institutions. During the inspection, Das raised concerns over the condition of school toilets and their upkeep. He also highlighted the burden of non-teaching duties, including Special Intensive Revision (SIR) electoral-roll work and Booth Level Officer (BLO) responsibilities, on teachers. CJP said villagers at the site told its team that an unused room had previously functioned as a public library. The organisation questioned the maintenance and utilisation of facilities intended for students and the wider community. The organisation also raised questions over the condition of government education infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh, saying that Noida, being among the state’s more prosperous districts, should have adequate basic facilities in its schools. Das questioned why infrastructure continues to deteriorate despite budgets being allocated for maintenance and repair, and sought accountability over the utilisation of sanctioned funds. CJP demanded that teachers be relieved of non-teaching responsibilities such as SIR and BLO duties so they can focus on classroom teaching. It also called for government school toilets to be properly sanitised and maintained for regular use by students. The organisation said it would continue conducting school audits across Uttar Pradesh and other parts of the country under its “School Thik Karo” campaign and urged citizens to inspect government schools in their localities and seek accountability from authorities.
