Azamgarh (UP), Sept 25 (INB) A Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) team inspected seven government schools in the Azamgarh region as part of its “School Thik Karo” campaign and claimed that two schools were closed and four were in poor condition, it said.
The team, led by CJP National Legal Affairs head Ratna Singh, interacted with teachers, parents, Anganwadi workers, mid-day meal staff and villagers during the inspections, the party said in a statement issued on Thursday. CJP said most of the schools inspected lacked clean drinking water and usable toilets, while sanitation, seating arrangements and school buildings also required attention. Teachers at several schools reportedly told the team that staff shortages had resulted in one teacher handling multiple classes and subjects. One of the schools, located next to a railway track, had no boundary wall and also lacked adequate classrooms, bathrooms, a playground and blackboards, the party claimed. CJP also said Anganwadi and mid-day meal workers reported delays in receiving their honorariums, while teachers raised concerns over delayed salary payments. “Instead of relying on paperwork and reports, the government must conduct regular physical inspections and take immediate corrective action,” Singh said, stressing the need for safe buildings, drinking water, toilets and adequate teachers. CJP has urged the Uttar Pradesh government to conduct a special inspection of government schools in the Azamgarh region and sought reopening of closed schools, construction of boundary walls around schools in high-risk locations and provision of classrooms, furniture, blackboards and sports facilities. The organisation also called for filling vacant teaching posts and ensuring timely payments to teachers, Anganwadi workers and mid-day meal staff. It said it would continue inspecting government schools in Azamgarh and other parts of Uttar Pradesh.
