New Delhi, Aug 17 (INB) The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the last date for fresh admissions and re-registration for the July 2026 session to August 31, according to an official statement said The extension will allow students to apply for more than 335 programmes through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode and around 45 online programmes, it stated. Senior Regional Director and Head Dr Anil Kumar Mishra said students can enrol in undergraduate programmes such as BA, BCom, BSW, BTS, BCA and BSc, besides four-year undergraduate programmes in areas including philosophy, public administration, journalism and digital media, education, Sanskrit, food safety and quality management and tourism management. The minimum eligibility for these undergraduate programmes is Class 12 or its equivalent, it added At the postgraduate level, IGNOU offers programmes in Hindi, English, Sanskrit, History, Urdu, Commerce, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Home Science, Climate Change, Artificial Intelligence and Environmental Studies, among others, Mishra said. Students can also opt for certificate programmes in areas such as Vedic Mathematics, human rights, disaster management, environmental studies, rural development, beekeeping, food and nutrition and information technology, he added. Regional Director Dr Anamika Sinha said applicants can apply online through the official IGNOU website and the admission portal. The admission fee can be paid through debit or credit cards. She also said existing undergraduate and postgraduate students can complete their re-registration for the next year or semester by August 31. Study Centre Coordinator Dr Prabhat Shukla said the deadline was extended to provide students with greater convenience and more opportunities to enrol in undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, certificate and other notified programmes. He added that existing students can also re-register for the next academic year or semester. There is no minimum marks requirement for admission to IGNOU programmes, according to the officials.
