NHRC invites applications for August 2026 online short-term internship programme

New Delhi, Jul 14 (INB) The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has invited applications for its Online Short-Term Internship (OSTI) Programme for August 2026, with the application window open till July 26 and the internship scheduled from August 3 to 14. The internship programme is open to eligible students across India and aims to promote awareness and understanding of human rights among university students. The NHRC has been organising internship programmes since 1998. The programme is open to students pursuing the third year and onwards of integrated five-year postgraduate courses, students in the third or final year of graduation, postgraduate students, and research scholars from any discipline with at least 60 per cent marks in Class 10, Class 12 and the first four semesters of their graduation or integrated course. Candidates are also required to submit a 250-word write-up on the topic “Statement of Purpose for joining NHRC Online Short-Term Internship”, which will serve as one of the selection criteria. Applications must be submitted online through the NHRC website or the NHRC India mobile application by 6 pm on July 26, 2026. Offline applications or submissions through email or post will not be accepted. The internship will be conducted online from 10 am to 5:30 pm on working days. The course will include lectures by NHRC members and experts, group discussions, book reviews, films on human rights issues, virtual field visits and group project presentations. Selected interns who successfully complete the programme will receive a stipend of Rs 2,000 and a certificate of participation, subject to fulfilling attendance and programme requirements. Candidates must not be more than 28 years of age as on July 1, 2026. The final list of selected candidates will be published on the NHRC website. The commission said it reserves the right to cancel applications or amend the terms and conditions of the internship without assigning any reason.
