New Delhi, Jul 8 (INB) The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) has extended the last date for submission of applications under the Yuva Shodh Pratibha Scheme (YSPS) 2026 till July 31, citing difficulties faced by students during the summer vacation. The council said the extension was granted after it observed that many applicants were unable to complete the online application process due to the June summer break. Students have been advised to submit their applications well before the revised deadline to avoid last-minute inconvenience. Launched by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on the 58th Foundation Day of ICSSR on May 12, the scheme is aimed at students enrolled in the fourth year of Four-Year Undergraduate Programmes under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. For the 2026–27 cycle, the broad research theme is “Youth and Decolonisation”, with the objective of encouraging students to undertake interdisciplinary research rooted in Bharatiya perspectives, local experiences and Indian intellectual traditions. Under the scheme, students are expected to work in teams of two or three under the guidance of a regular faculty mentor from their institution. Each selected research project will receive financial assistance of up to Rs 3 lakh and will have a duration of eight months. The scheme seeks to promote original thinking, context-based knowledge creation and collaborative research while contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047, the council said.
