Sukanta Majumdar inaugurates IISER Kolkata summer camp for Northeast students

Kolkata, Jul 16 (INB) Union Minister of State for Education, Dr Sukanta Majumdar on Wednesday inaugurated the IISER Kolkata Summer Camp 2026, an official statement said on Thursday.
The week-long programme brings together 70 Class XI and XII students from 53 Kendriya Vidyalayas across the seven North-Eastern states to promote scientific research, innovation and interdisciplinary learning.
Inaugurating the camp, Majumdar encouraged students to pursue research, innovation and entrepreneurship to contribute towards building a knowledge-driven and developed India. He also lauded IISER Kolkata’s initiative to engage students from the North-Eastern region and highlighted the region’s rich cultural diversity and knowledge base.
The summer camp will be held from July 15 to 22 at the IISER Kolkata campus in Mohanpur, Nadia.
It is being organised in collaboration with the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Science City, Kolkata under the National Council of Science Museums.
According to the organisers, the programme aims to nurture scientific curiosity through hands-on learning, interdisciplinary education and exposure to emerging areas of science, while encouraging students to pursue higher education and research careers.
