Lucknow, Sept 15 (INB) The Uttar Pradesh government will organise competitions and exhibitions in schools from September 17 to October 2 to provide students a platform to express their vision of a “My Dream India” through paintings, posters and speeches, an official statement said on Monday.
The initiative is aimed at linking students’ creativity with the country’s development journey and encouraging them to reflect on achievements over the past decade and their aspirations for the future, it said. The competitions will be organised following directions issued at a September 11 video conference chaired by the Basic and Secondary Education ministers, according to the statement. Director General, School Education and State Project Director Monika Rani has directed officials to ensure effective implementation of the programme, it said. Under the Basic Education Department, students of Classes 6 to 8 will participate in the ‘Mere Sapno Ka Bharat Chitra Seva’ competition from September 17 to 26. They will depict through paintings and posters achievements in various fields over the past 10 years, the statement said. The best five entries from each school will be selected for display at the district-level exhibition. Parents will also be invited to the school-level events, it said. District-level exhibitions will be held from September 26 to October 2, with participation of students, parents, teachers, public representatives and senior officials. Outstanding students will be awarded certificates, trophies or medals and prizes, according to the statement. For Classes 9 to 12, the Secondary Education Department will organise a speech competition on the theme ‘My Dream India’ from September 17 to 26. Schools running Classes 6 to 8 will also organise painting and poster competitions, it said. The government has directed officials to ensure maximum participation of students from both government and private schools, the statement said. The district-level programme will feature the work of the five best student artists from Classes 6 to 8 and selected presentations by students of Classes 9 to 12. District inspectors of schools will act as nodal officers at the secondary level, while drawing sheets, colours and other required material will be arranged through permissible Samagra Shiksha funds, according to the statement.
