Dehradun, Sep 1 (INB) UPES and Google Cloud have deepened their collaboration on artificial intelligence in education with the rollout of 10,100 Gemini Enterprise for Education licences for students and faculty, the university said on Tuesday.
The initiative was announced during the celebration of Google Gemini Day on the UPES campus and is aimed at integrating AI into learning, teaching, research, collaboration and innovation.
The event brought together representatives of Google India, technology deployment partner ParadigmIT, and the UPES community. Google Cloud’s India Head for EdTechs & Education Vaibhav Kumar Srivastava conducted a specialised session for students.
The university said the access to Gemini Enterprise would enable students and faculty to explore advanced AI capabilities, develop AI-powered solutions and use intelligent tools for academic and research work. “Becoming an AI-First University is not simply about providing access to advanced technology; it is about embedding AI meaningfully into the way our students learn, our faculty teach and conduct research, and our academic community innovates,” UPES Vice Chancellor Dr Sunil Rai said. Srivastava congratulated UPES on being “one of the first digital campuses on Google Cloud” and said the launch represented the “largest Gemini campus in northern India”, according to the statement.

The university’s leadership has demonstrated the vision and acumen to understand what AI can do for students and the opportunities it can create for them,” Google Cloud India Head for EdTechs & Education Vaibhav Kumar Srivastava said.
The collaboration also includes industry engagement and experiential learning aimed at preparing students for an increasingly AI-driven workplace, the university said. UPES is a private university established under the UPES Act, 2003, of the Uttarakhand legislature and recognised by the UGC. According to the statement, it offers graduate and postgraduate programmes through seven schools and has more than 20,000 students and 1,500 faculty and staff members.
