Prayagraj, Sept 17 (INB) The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has rejected representations seeking revision of UPTET-2026 results on grounds including OMR errors, lower normalised scores and answers, while allowing correction of certain certificate details, it said.
The decision was taken after a six-member committee examined representations submitted by candidates seeking changes in the results of the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET)-2026, according to an official statement issued on Wednesday. The representations were broadly classified into four categories. The first category comprised complaints regarding incorrect filling of roll-number and question-booklet-number circles, or both, on the OMR sheet. The commission said candidates had been clearly instructed through the advertisement, admit card and other communications about correctly filling these details. It said the OMR evaluation and score-processing system was based on automation and, therefore, the commission could not accept relief in such cases. The second and third categories included representations concerning lower scores obtained through the normalisation process and candidates claiming fewer marks on the basis of the answer key. The commission said the normalisation process had been mentioned in the examination advertisement because the test was conducted over more than one day or shift. It said the process was based on scientific principles to ensure comparative assessment of question-paper difficulty across different shifts. The commission further said such normalisation was a scientific process and had also been accepted by various courts when adopted by other examination bodies. It decided that no relief, including change in marks or normalised scores, could be granted on the representations falling under categories two and three. The fourth category comprised complaints regarding errors in candidates’ names, father’s or husband’s names, dates of birth, caste or category in examination certificates, it stated. The commission decided that successful candidates in this category would soon be provided an online facility to apply for correction of such details. The corrected certificates would be issued after verification.
