New Delhi, Sept 23 (INB) Students of IIT Roorkee’s Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering showcased an indigenous chip designed at the institute and fabricated at the Semiconductor Laboratory (SCL), Chandigarh, at SEMICON India 2026, it said on Wednesday. The chip was developed under the Chips to Startup (C2S) Programme of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the institute said in a LinkedIn post. The students also interacted with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the event and highlighted the institute’s work in indigenous semiconductor design and development, it added. The showcased RF Receiver Design is intended for applications in wireless sensor networks, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, satellite navigation, aerospace and defence systems, and quantum computing, the institute said. The achievement reflects IIT Roorkee’s efforts to strengthen indigenous semiconductor technologies, chip-design capabilities and innovation within India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem, it added.
