Kanpur, Sept 11 (INB) IIT Kanpur organised a one-day programme to commemorate World EV Day 2026, bringing together experts to discuss building a sustainable, resilient and grid-ready electric vehicle ecosystem in India, it said on Friday.
The programme was coordinated by Prof Saikat Chakrabarti of the Department of Electrical Engineering through the GREET-MANA EV Mission (Grid Readiness for Electric Vehicles: Enablers and Technological Developments) Project, supported by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), the institute said in a LinkedIn post.
The inaugural session was attended by Prof Jayandharan G Rao, Dean, Research and Development, IIT Kanpur; Rajib Das, retired Deputy General Manager, CESC; and Prof Saikat Chakrabarti, Lead Principal Investigator of the GREET Project. The programme brought together experts from academia, industry, government and research institutions to examine key aspects of India’s electric mobility transition, including smart charging, grid readiness, renewable-energy integration, vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology, policy frameworks, charging infrastructure and consumer adoption, IIT Kanpur said. The discussions emphasised the need for stronger collaboration among academia, industry and government, as well as grid-responsive charging infrastructure, technological innovation and coordinated policy support. These measures would help strengthen India’s transition towards a sustainable and resilient electric vehicle ecosystem, the institute said.
