Lucknow, Sept 14 (INB) The Uttar Pradesh government will provide employment-oriented skill training to 5,123 students of seven Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Vidyalayas in Banda division under Project Praveen, the Social Welfare Department said.
The initiative will be implemented during the 2026-27 financial year through the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission, with students of Classes 9 to 12 receiving vocational training alongside their regular education, according to an official statement issued on September 12.
The seven residential Sarvodaya schools include two in Banda, three in Chitrakoot and one each in Hamirpur and Mahoba, the department said. The institutions primarily provide free education to meritorious students from economically weaker Scheduled Caste families. Under Project Praveen, students will be offered three- to six-month certificate courses based on their interests and availability of trades. Training will cover sectors including Apparel, IT-ITeS, Retail Management, Beauty and Wellness, Electronics and Automobile. The programme will include practical classes twice a week to provide students with hands-on learning. Trainers will be deployed at the respective school campuses, enabling students to undergo training without travelling outside their institutions. The government will bear the entire cost of the training, ensuring that students and their families do not face any additional financial burden, the department said. After completion of the courses, students will undergo an assessment. Successful candidates will receive a joint certificate from the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), which will be recognised across the country. The initiative is aimed at improving students’ employment and self-employment prospects by equipping them with practical skills alongside their academic education, the department said. Student registration will begin shortly, following which trades will be allotted according to individual interests. A nodal officer will also be appointed at each school to monitor training quality, attendance and implementation.
