New Delhi, Aug 31 (INB) The NEET-PG 2026 examination has been conducted for over 2.65 lakh candidates across 1,111 centres in 339 cities, with 2,445 candidates in Jaipur set to appear for the exam afresh on September 5 following a technical disruption, according to an official statement.
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) had scheduled the examination for 2,73,096 candidates across all 36 States and Union Territories. Of the candidates scheduled to appear, 2,65,980 candidates appeared, while the examination was successfully completed for approximately 2,63,535 candidates, the Ministry of Education said in the statement issued on Sunday.
The nationwide examination was conducted with extensive security and real-time monitoring arrangements. A total of 2,527 faculty members were appointed as Independent Appraisers, while more than 700 senior faculty members, including deans, directors, medical superintendents and professors, were deployed as Flying Squad members. The NBEMS also operated 16 Regional Command Centres across the country to strengthen coordination and monitoring during the examination.
All examination centres were placed under live CCTV surveillance, which was monitored from the NBEMS Command Centre at its headquarters in Dwarka. A dedicated team of 190 personnel from NBEMS and TCS was deployed for real-time surveillance and monitoring. Officials from NBEMS, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, BEL, ECIL and TCS maintained continuous oversight of the examination process, according to the statement. Aadhaar-based authentication of candidates was also carried out at examination centres as part of measures to strengthen security and prevent impersonation. However, the examination could not be completed for 2,445 candidates at the iON Digital Zone iDZ Sitapura centres in Jaipur due to internal power supply issues. The affected centres were identified as TC Nos. 41682 and 41683. NBEMS attributed the disruption to the examination conducting agency, TCS Ltd., and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to the candidates. To provide the affected candidates a fair opportunity to appear for the examination, NBEMS said the exam will be conducted afresh for them on September 5 (Saturday) at 3 PM in Jaipur, Rajasthan, according to the statement. The board said the successful conduct of the examination across 1,111 centres reflected coordination among examination authorities, medical institutions, faculty, security agencies, technology teams and other stakeholders.
