New Delhi, Sep 3 (INB) AMD (Advance Micro Devices) and Delhi University on Thursday announced a strategic collaboration to equip India’s next generation of artificial intelligence (AI) talent with industry-relevant skills, according to an official statement.
Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed, AMD will bring its ‘AI Engage Developer Program’ to Delhi University, providing students and faculty with hands-on access to AMD’s open-source ROCm™ AI software platform, learning resources, and developer GPU cloud credits, it stated.
The initiative aims to train up to 10,000 students over the next year, enabling them to build, test, and deploy AI applications using industry-grade tools, it added. “India has the talent and the ambition to lead the next wave of AI innovation. The opportunity now is to give students early access to the platforms and tools that power real-world AI development,” Jaya Jagadish, Country Head & SVP Engineering, AMD India, said. She added that the collaboration will help students move from learning AI concepts to building practical solutions, reflecting AMD’s long-term commitment to strengthening India’s AI ecosystem. Through this partnership, students and faculty will gain access to specialized AI learning curriculums, technical workshops, open software ecosystems, and cloud-based GPU resources for hands-on experimentation. The program is designed to encourage indigenous innovation and research while enhancing developer readiness. Speaking at the event, Prof Yogesh Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University, said, “This collaboration reflects a growing industry focus on preparing graduates with practical AI skills that extend beyond classroom learning.” He noted that by combining academic learning with modern AI computing platforms, the partnership will help create a stronger pipeline of AI developers and researchers to support India’s expanding digital economy. Delhi University, one of India’s largest higher education institutions, will integrate these resources into its student learning frameworks. The collaboration builds on AMD’s ongoing investments in India’s technology ecosystem through academia and developer enablement.
