Kanpur, Sept 22 (INB) The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur has inaugurated a course on robotics under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme of the Ministry of External Affairs, it said on Tuesday.
The course, being held from September 21 to October 2, is aimed at developing technical and analytical skills in robotics and related technologies for applications in research, industry and public-sector innovation, according to IIT Kanpur’s Office of International Relations’ LinkedIn post. A total of 19 participants, including government officials, diplomats and researchers from 13 countries, are attending the programme, the institute said. Participants are from Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Oman, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Tanzania, the Dominican Republic, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Botswana, Senegal, Algeria and Egypt. The programme is being coordinated by Prof Ashish Dutta and Prof Shakti Singh Gupta of IIT Kanpur’s Department of Mechanical Engineering, it said. The inaugural session was addressed by Prof Pratik Sen, Acting Dean, Office of International Relations, who welcomed the participants on behalf of IIT Kanpur and the office. The institute also thanked the Ministry of External Affairs for supporting the programme and said initiatives under the ITEC framework contribute to international partnerships in education, science and technological development.
